Development of new methodologies for the synthesis of
medicinally active heterocycles
Research in our group involves the identification of bioactive compounds through medicinal chemistry approaches and development of novel strategies for the synthesis of medicinally active heterocycles.
Identification of bioactive compounds and medicinal chemistry:
The chemical diversity of natural products has guided the drug discovery research worldwide. We are engaged in tapping the bioactive chemical scaffold diversity from natural sources and medicinal chemistry around bioactive scaffolds. In this course we have successfully identified some scaffolds and exploring them as lead compounds for further optimization and development.
Development of new methodologies for the synthesis of medicinally active heterocycles:
Nitrogen heterocycles are the most frequently encountered drug/lead scaffolds. Our group is working on development of synthetic methodologies for construction of nitrogen heterocycles as well as late stage functionalization of bioactive compounds. Our synthetic studies are mainly directed towards new therapeutics for parasitic diseases and CNS-CVS Disorders
