Parasitic Infections

We focus on uncovering the molecular and biochemical mechanisms of diseases caused by parasites and to identify novel bioactive compounds to combat these diseases.

● Development of vaccines, new drugs/drug combinations and delivery systems.
● Investigation of disease biology, host-pathogen interactions and immune evasion for potential interventions.
● Development of recombinant bacterial strains and new animal models for exploring disease pathogenesis and PK/PD studies..

● Design, synthesis and bio-evaluation of novel molecules/natural products.
● Plasmodium cynomolgi-rhesus macaque model for evaluation of advanced leads.
● Mosquito rearing facility for investigating phenotypic effects of genetically manipulated parasites.
● Molecular and structural approaches for decoding mechanisms of distinct metabolic and regulatory pathways.
● Fluorescence-based membrane permeabilization approaches.
