Goals

  • Novel therapeutic interventions for infections caused by mycobacteria, fungi, and ESKAPE pathogens.
  • Murine infection model for persistence and reactivation.
  • Target-based screening systems for antimycobacterial drugs.
  • Recombinant bacterial strains to explore disease pathogenesis.
  • India-specific disease epidemiology and susceptibility studies.

Core Competencies and Activities

  • Cell based screening using a panel of mycobacterial strains with MGIT/BACTEC system.
  • In vitro inhibitor screens for anti-fungal activities and against ESKAPE pathogens.
  • In vivo pre-clinical assays including time kill analysis.
  • Target-based recombinant strains for FAS-II pathway-specific screening.
  • Knock-down strains for screening inhibitors against selective metabolic pathways.
  • Structural and computational biology approaches for rationale-driven discovery
